Chris Arnold is an entrepreneur. His first business was Camp Leaders which led to Smaller Earth which in turn expanded to the Smaller Earth Group that has a number of businesses and offices in 16 countries and hundreds of employees around the world. Most of the work in the group is youth centric. Then the creation of the most ambitious Organisation - a social enterprise called World Merit. Which had a celebration World Merit Day with speakers and connections like Malala Yousafzai, Sir Ken Robinson, Lord Michael Hastings, and Katie Piper - World Merit has the chance to make a truly global impact - and help people reach their full potential. Now he opened a new chapter Heroic Books.
Founded Smaller Earth in 2006. Smaller Earth sends young global citizens to have life-changing work and cultural exchange experiences all over the world. With initiatives in 50 countries, unique projects bring together communities to grow insight and understanding. This is a fast growing business and has already provided personal development for thousands of people. It has been positioned as the core of the Smaller Earth Group and is set to eclipse Camp Leaders in revenue in the coming period. The company vision is ‘to positively impact 20 million people by 2020’. Developed The Smaller Earth Group (SEG) in 2008. This has developed through the founding and acquisition of a number of further companies and initiatives. Chris is now the President of the Group that, in addition to Smaller Earth and Camp Leaders.
Founded World Merit in 2012. This is now Chris’s entire focus and he notes that it is the most ambitious project of his career so far. It is designed to provide opportunity for people who demonstrate they deserve it and raise aspirations in everyone else. This is the first initiative outside of the Smaller Earth Group for Chris and he lists it as his ‘change the world move’. Humankind has evolved with an incredible reservoir of talent and fantastic diversity, World Merit is here to ensure we utilise more of it.
